Our council sponsors a large number of council activities throughout the year. Examples of some events follow; and associated event pictures can be found in our Picture Gallery.

Our annual Community activities include: a Fall Dinner/Dance, Spring Car Raffle, Spring “Garden Spruce-Up” at Unionvilla Bungalows, “Roses for Life” Mother’s Day Campaign in support of the Rose of Sharon Agency for young parents in York Region and managing the event booth at the Annual Unionville Fishing Derby in July.

Our Youth-oriented activities include hosting the local Annual Free Throw Basketball Competition jointly with St Thomas the Apostle Council for local youth in Unionville and Milliken. In November 2003 our Council began to sponsor the Knights’ “Substance Abuse Poster Contest” in our local Schools, and we host a movie night for kids in conjunction with our annual Pot Luck Supper with the CWL.

We also work with our SJM Youth Group on activities whenever possible, and assist them in major Parish events like their “Stations in the Park” presentation when St Justin Martyr Parish hosted the World Youth Day Cross during the 2002 World Youth Days; and their Good Friday Stations in April 2004.;

We have also sponsored junior UMSA Softball Teams and junior Soccer teams in UMSC (Unionville-Milliken Soccer Club) when our Members were actively coaching in these Leagues.

Our Charitable donations include recipients such as UnionVilla Seniors Home, the Arthritis Society, the Evergreen Hospice, the Markham Stouffville Hospital, Good Shepherd Refuge, and the annual ShareLife campaign.  We also respond to specific projects/needs at our Local Catholic Elementary Schools, support Diocesan Seminarian education at home and in Mission countries.

Our Church Support activities include delivery of parcels for the Annual Parish Caring & Sharing program; an Advent “Light Up for Christ” event centered around the Parish Nativity Scene, given to the Parish to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of our Council; and an ongoing “Support Life” project in conjunction with the CWL and Local Schools.  We also distribute Palms on Palm Sunday at all Masses, and assist other Parish organizations whenever appropriate.

In 2003 we initiated our “March is Baby Month” project to gather food and clothing for infants and young children from our Parish Community. Items are distributed through Homes and Agencies (like Rose of Sharon, Nazareth House, Rosalie Hall, etc) to young Mothers in the GTA Area. This is our Council’s way of supporting the national K of C “Day of the Unborn Child” which is celebrated on March 25th (the Feast of the Annunciation).

Members of our Council are very active in our Community and within our Parish life. They serve as Ministers of Hospitality, Lectors, Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist, as well as in many Parish activities and organizations.

Our Family-oriented activities include an annual Pot Luck Dinner and Movie night, Family Outings to Skydome for Baseball evenings, and a June Dinner for Members and Spouses to celebrate the end of the Fraternal Year, and a Family Skating Party in late December to end the Calendar year!.
