I wish to go on a spiritual retreat. Where is this possible?

QUEEN OF APOSTLES

Queen of Apostles is a Retreat and Renewal Centre under the direction of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate, Assumption Province.

WHAT IS A RETREAT?

A retreat is a time of prayer and stillness. One STOPS the rhythm of their ordinary life; one LOOKS at how God is present in everyday moments; and on LISTENS to the ways the Lord is inviting them to grow in their personal relationship with Him. Retreats are for persons from all walks of life who seek renewal. During any retreat the sacrament of reconciliation is available on request. There is an opportunity to share in daily Eucharist.

WHAT IS A PRIVATE RETREAT?

A private retreat is a time where you follow your own prayer program. Retreats can be of varying duration and are available by contacting their office.

WHAT IS A GUIDED RETREAT?

A guided retreat involves one or two meetings with a director, with whom you may share your spiritual journey. This type of retreat may involve the use of Scripture and silence, but is less structured than a directed retreat.

WHAT IS A DIRECTED RETREAT?

A directed retreat involves daily meetings with a spiritual director who guides you through an experience of silent prayer with the use of Scripture. This type of retreat is well structured and will involve sharing your lived experience from the perspective of Christian faith. Oblate priests are qualified spiritual directors at the Centre as well as Mrs. Anne Hales.

WOMEN’S WEEKEND RETREATS

The Retreat Home Team offers this conference style retreat. The theme is based on Scripture readings. After each presentation, some time is included for personal reflection and sharing. An opportunity for reconciliation is available and Eucharist is celebrated daily.

WOMEN TOGETHER RETREAT

It is a retreat that explores the spirit of women. It is a unique blend of mediation, Scripture prayer, guided imagery, quiet reflection and journaling. Retreatants will be encouraged to share their wisdom with one another, allowing them to deepen their awareness of how God is present and speaking in the ordinary moments of life.

WHAT IS A PREACHED RETREAT?

A preached retreat is experienced in a group setting. It involves spiritual conferences given by our retreat team each day and the celebration of the Eucharist.

MANRESA

Manresa is a Jesuit Retreat Centre that offers a spiritual renewal through various programs – all in the Ignatian tradition of desiring, seeking and finding God in the reality of our daily lives.

A weekend group retreat is basically a time away from the frenzy of everyday life, a time to relax, to reflect, to pray and to learn perhaps for the first time to enjoy silence. It is a holiday with God where a retreatant comes to realize God’s saving work in the world – and in the life of each one of us in particular. Each weekend has a theme and there is an opportunity to meet with a member of the Retreat Team, to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation and to attend Mass. As one retreatant put it; “This place has the quality of a little heaven, the wide open spaces invite reflection. Everywhere one feels the presence of God.”
